A reminder for our patients
Standard blood tests, such as full blood count, kidney function, liver function and cholesterol, usually take up to 5 working days to be processed and reviewed. Some specialist tests, such as certain hormone, vitamin or stool tests, may take longer.
If it has been more than a week and you have not received your result, please first check the NHS App or TPP online to see whether the result and any GP comments are already available.
If the result is not available online, please contact the surgery reception team, ideally in the afternoon when the phone lines are usually less busy.
If your GP requested the test:
Please ask reception whether the result has been received and whether the GP has left any comments or asked you to book a follow-up appointment.
If a hospital specialist requested the test:
Please contact the secretary or department of the consultant or clinic team who arranged the test. The clinician who requested the test is responsible for reviewing the result and explaining the outcome to you. These results may not always come directly to your GP surgery.
Urgent or significantly abnormal results are reviewed and actioned as appropriate. If you have any concerns about your symptoms or a test result, please speak to a member of the team.
